Guerilla Art for April Fools

Here’s yet another reason to love Riverside.

On the morning of Monday, April 1, we went for our usual walk in Memorial Park and saw this awesome satirical art installation. I don’t know if it was there on Easter Sunday because I didn’t go there on Sunday. I do know it wasn’t there late Saturday afternoon when we walked. I assume it’s a guerilla art action, because no one took credit for it. The cross, the TV, the stuffed pig, and the ATV are gone now, but the trailer and bunny components were still not removed from the park as of yesterday.

Here's what we saw from a distance.

Yes, that's an old TV set mounted to a cross.

On closer view, it's a giant Easter bunny who's lost his head at the altar of commercialized Mc-Christianity. Complete with stuffed pig riding out of the bunny's butt on an ATV.

This photo essay would not be complete without a shot of Charlie posing with the piggy!

It occurred to me, there may be a remote possibility this was a “legitimate” staging of an Easter service. Yikes!
